I am an author, speaker and professional development facilitator (consultant) who provides customizable learning opportunities and professional development for K-12 school districts across the country. My presentations typically focus on differentiation, instructional coaching, and standards-based grading. Most importantly, my presentations are designed to “keep it real” focusing on specific strategies that all educators can implement after our time together.
Prior to becoming a consultant, I spent over 15-years working in public school systems serving most recently as an instructional coach specializing in differentiation. I also served as a teacher for gifted humanities, ELA, and social studies.
I have enjoyed being an educational blogger (for Education Week, Education Week Teacher, Corwin Connect and lisawestman.com) since May of 2016 and I published my first book, Student-Driven Differentiation: 8 Steps To Harmonize Learning In The Classroom (Corwin Press) in May of 2018.
I am a frequent presenter at educational conferences and have presented at ASCD, ISTE, AMLE, Visible Learning, IAGC, ICE, IETC, ILASCD, and ICIC and other conferences. I have provided keynote presentations and led multi-day professional development sessions for K-12 teachers and administrators in various school systems throughout the United States.
Most importantly, I am a parent of a third-grader and a sixth-grader, enjoy destressing at the Bar Method, love music, and the City of Chicago! Interestingly, I met my husband when we were assigned to a district committee together when we were both teaching in the same suburban Chicago school district.
